Malteser International is an international non-governmental organisation with its HQ in Germany. Malteser is providing humanitarian assistance and development aid for population in need in over 50 countries. Our main focus lies in the sector of health and water/sanitation. Malteser International is currently running partner programmes in Lhokseumawe, Aceh and Nias, North-Sumatra and is looking for an efficient, motivated and experienced person to fill the position of a: Construction Engineer Location: Kota Pariaman, West-Sumatra Main Responsibilities / Duties - Site management for construction of of school building and water / sanitation facilities in Sibaruas, Sungai Limau, Padang Pariaman
- Working in close cooperation with the Project Manager
- Weekly reporting to the Project Manager
- Ensuring structures are constructed to the appropriate building standards and follow the approved design drawings
- Ensuring the timely completion of projects
- Daily record keeping of construction workers
- Keeping a record of materials
- Liaison with the logistician/admin and sub-contractor to ensure the timely delivery of materials
Starting Date: 1 January 2010, contract period: 4 months Deadline of Application: 13th November 2009 |

| Qualifications |
Required Qualifications
At least 5 years proven ‘hands-on’ experience in the construction industry
Experience of constructing school buildings and WatSan facilities
Experience of working in a village setting
Strong organizational & management skills and a team player
Ability to work under pressure
Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia
Willingness to work in a remote location
Maturity, patience & diligence
An honest and ethical character
Desired but not essential qualifications
At least 2 year’s experience working with an IO/NGO in a similar position
Experience of working in West-Sumatra and in particular earthquake affected areas
Strong computer skills |
